Mausoleo Fosse Ardeatine – Roma
Il Progetto “Il Volo della Memoria” ha riscosso tanta partecipazione presso le scuole del territorio, con grande soddisfazione dell’Amministrazione Comunale che voleva far riflettere i giovani sugli eccessi dei totalitarismi e sulle pagine più nere della nostra storia.
Numerosi studenti hanno realizzato elaborati profondamente meditati, fervidi di pensiero, ricchi di valore storico, umano e documentario. I ragazzi più meritevoli hanno potuto recarsi ad Auschwitz e visitare i luoghi dello sterminio, della Shoah indagata nei loro lavori. L’iniziativa è nata per formare la coscienza civile dei giovani che saranno i cittadini del tomorrow, but it also resulted from the desire to remember a particular way in a household that was literally disintegrated by the Nazi madness.
We are talking with the family of Raffaele Milan, born in our city where spent his childhood and adolescence, before moving to the capital. Unfortunately
Raffaele Milan was killed at the notorious "Fosse Ardeatine," while his wife and daughter perished in Auschwitz.
It follows that our city has paid a heavy toll against the savagery of World War II. And if many were killed during the Second World War, in the case of Milan is a special situation and still more painful, as to the facts of the war was all the family to be destroyed. Order is never lowered the guard and to prevent other innocent people pay the consequences of crazy ideology, it is appropriate and necessary to train the new generations to respect for others, tolerance, civility, but also to the memory of the black pages of the twentieth century which unfortunately can not be forgotten. We do not live in history, but history helps us to live, to avoid repeating mistakes.
In this context, we find the visit to the Mausoleum of the Ardeatine commemorating the massacre of Raffaele Milan, but also of another Sora, Domenico Iaforte. The two martyrs Sorani Fosse has been named the square del Cimitero cittadino della nostra città.
Ma non basta, noi vogliamo fare di più. Il dolore non può farci tacere anche se troppo grande è stato l’eccidio perpetrato che farebbe rimanere muto chiunque. Invece l’uomo deve reagire, perché la sincerità del dolore e della condanna si misurano sui fatti e solamente su di essi. Ecco perché vogliamo andare sul luogo dell’eccidio.
Anche la data del 12 maggio come visita alle Fosse Ardeatine non è casuale perché ricorda l’infausto 12 maggio 1799, quando, proprio 210 anni fa, le truppe francesi massacrarono 533 isolani nella chiesa di San Lorenzo dell’Isola di Sora (o presso Sora), l’odierna Isola del Liri.
Questo a mean that the initiatives planned express our desire to offer an opportunity for reflection on these issues for young people, with a strong call for civil commitment. And objectively and impartially programming and content of the events are aimed at all events, for every form of totalitarianism.
Despite the complexity of these issues can be hard or difficult to understand, we're finding that young people respond with interest to our stimuli, a situation that amply repays the work of the directors involved, but also of city officials and the schools that contribute energetically a tangible and concrete to the success of the initiatives.
